The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced applications for the position of Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (MER) Analyst under its Action for Climate and Environment (ACE) Unit in India. The full-time position is offered under a National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA-8) for an initial one-year contract and is open to both internal and external candidates. Position Overview The Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Analyst will support UNDP India’s Action for Climate and Environment (ACE) Unit by strengthening monitoring systems, reporting processes, and learning mechanisms across climate and environmental programmes. Working under the guidance of the Senior Advisor and Team Leader, the successful candidate will manage monitoring platforms, coordinate programme reporting, and ensure project data is effectively collected, analysed, and utilized to improve programme performance and accountability. The position is based in India and does not require mobility. Key Responsibilities The Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Analyst will play a central role in ensuring effective programme implementation through robust monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems. Core responsibilities include: Monitoring and Results Management The successful candidate will: Strengthen Results-Based Management (RBM) systems across programme planning and implementation Develop and maintain monitoring frameworks, dashboards, templates, and tracking systems Monitor project performance against approved work plans, indicators, and targets Identify implementation risks, challenges, and bottlenecks while recommending corrective actions Coordinate portfolio-wide data collection, validation, and reporting processes Ensure compliance with UNDP monitoring standards and corporate reporting requirements Support field monitoring missions, programme reviews, and implementation support activities Build the monitoring and evaluation capacity of programme teams and implementing partners Evaluation and Learning Responsibilities also include: Supporting evaluations, assessments, and programme reviews Coordinating evaluation documentation and stakeholder consultations Managing evaluation reports and research evidence Documenting lessons learned and best practices Producing evidence-based analytical reports that strengthen programme performance and decision-making Supporting research initiatives to demonstrate development outcomes and impact Reporting and Knowledge Management The analyst will also: Coordinate donor and corporate reporting requirements Prepare analytical reports, presentations, programme summaries, and briefing materials Maintain high standards for reporting quality and data management Promote organizational learning through knowledge-sharing activities Support training on monitoring, evaluation, Results-Based Management, and gender-responsive programming Contribute to UNDP knowledge networks and communities of practice The role may also involve undertaking additional responsibilities as required to support the effective functioning of the office. Required Qualifications UNDP is seeking professionals with strong analytical, research, and programme management skills. Applicants must possess: A master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, Social Sciences, or a related discipline Alternatively: A bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields combined with at least two years of relevant professional experience Applicants holding a master’s degree are not required to have prior professional experience. Desired Experience and Skills Competitive candidates should demonstrate experience in: Monitoring and evaluation of development programmes Data collection, validation, and analysis Results-Based Management (RBM) Programme performance monitoring and reporting Database management and digital reporting platforms Dashboard development and data visualization Research and evidence generation Stakeholder coordination across government, development partners, and field teams Budget tracking and programme management support Experience working with the United Nations, NGOs, INGOs, or similar international development organizations will be considered an advantage. Candidates should also be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and reporting tools. Language Requirements Applicants must demonstrate fluency in: English Hindi Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages are essential for effective programme coordination and reporting.
