United Nations Development Programme has announced applications for a home-based Programme Management Intern position under its Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH). Understanding the Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) The Sustainable Finance Hub is one of UNDP’s central platforms supporting countries and institutions in financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through its work, the Hub helps governments, financial institutions, development partners, and private sector actors strengthen financing systems that support sustainable development priorities. The Sustainable Finance Hub focuses on three interconnected areas: Public Finance for the SDGs Private Finance for the SDGs Global and Country Financing Policy Frameworks Its work contributes directly to the implementation of the United Nations Development Programme Strategic Plan 2026–2029, which prioritises: Expanding prosperity Strengthening governance Safeguarding the planet Building resilience About the FAST Initiative The Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAST) Initiative focuses on leveraging sustainable finance solutions to combat: Forced labour Human trafficking Modern slavery The initiative works with financial institutions, governments, businesses, and international stakeholders to develop financing mechanisms and policy responses that reduce exploitation and strengthen ethical economic systems. The Programme Management Intern will support the third phase of the FAST Initiative running from 2024 to 2030. Key Responsibilities of the Internship The selected intern will work under the supervision of the FAST Initiative Project Coordinator and collaborate closely with the Sustainable Finance team and Business and Human Rights colleagues. Programme Management Support The intern will assist with: Supporting programme coordination and implementation Tracking deadlines, deliverables, and action points Preparing: Briefs Presentations Reports Meeting notes Maintaining programme records and filing systems Supporting logistical and operational coordination Assisting with: Consultations Roundtables Meetings Events Monitoring implementation progress and follow-up actions Research and Knowledge Management Responsibilities also include: Conducting background research and desk reviews Supporting development of knowledge products and reports Collecting and organising stakeholder information Drafting: Research summaries Event reports Communication materials Talking points Supporting knowledge-sharing initiatives across: SharePoint Teams Viva Engage Intranet platforms Assisting with communication content for websites, social media, and email outreach Administrative Support The intern will additionally: Support implementation of the FAST workplan Maintain project documentation and records Assist with staff meetings and reporting processes Skills and Competencies Required UNDP is seeking candidates who demonstrate: Strong organisational abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Professionalism and integrity Ability to work independently Capacity to perform under pressure Attention to confidentiality and ethical standards Entrepreneurial and proactive work approaches Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements: Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme Be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree Have recently graduated within the past year Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme Preferred Academic Backgrounds Candidates from the following fields are encouraged to apply: International Development International Relations Finance Economics Political Affairs Sustainable Finance Related disciplines Experience Requirements While this is an internship role, UNDP highly values prior academic or professional experience. Preferred qualifications include: Experience in programme or project management Knowledge management experience Exposure to sustainable finance or sustainable development Familiarity with multilateral organisations or donor agencies Knowledge of modern slavery and human trafficking issues Data analysis experience Technical and Language Requirements Applicants should demonstrate: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with: Power BI Tableau R Other data visualisation tools Fluency in English Knowledge of another UN language, especially French, is considered an advantage.
