UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is seeking a Social Media Intern – TikTok Content Production to support its growing digital engagement with young, global audiences. This internship offers an exciting opportunity for creative, camera-confident storytellers to contribute to impactful, youth-centered communications within a leading UN agency. As short-form video continues to shape how young people engage with global issues, TikTok plays a strategic role in amplifying UNFPA’s mandate: ensuring that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. The selected intern will work closely with UNFPA HQ’s Digital Communications Team to produce engaging, high-quality TikTok content that brings complex global issues to life in relatable and accessible ways. Internship Details at a Glance Position: Social Media Intern – TikTok Content Production Duty Station: New York, USA (in person or remote) Contract Type: Internship (Full-time) Duration: 24 weeks Option 1: 1 March 2026 – 16 August 2026 Option 2: 1 September 2026 – 14 February 2027 Closing Date: 12 January 2026 (23:59 EST) Applicants must indicate which internship period they are available for. Role Overview The intern will focus on on-camera mobile video production for TikTok, contributing to the full content cycle—from ideation to publishing. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable appearing on camera, understands TikTok culture, and enjoys translating serious topics into engaging, youth-friendly content. Under the supervision of the Social Media Specialist, the intern will ensure that all outputs align with UNFPA’s brand, values, and safeguarding principles, while also bringing fresh and creative ideas to expand UNFPA’s digital reach. Key Responsibilities Produce, film, and feature in on-camera TikTok videos using mobile devices Contribute to content ideation, scripts, and storyboards aligned with UNFPA campaigns Track TikTok trends, challenges, formats, and audio to identify timely opportunities Edit short-form videos using mobile or desktop tools Write captions, overlays, and on-screen text following accessibility and brand guidelines Support the development of a TikTok content calendar Coordinate with programme and communications teams to source stories and insights Assist with publishing, scheduling, and optimizing content Support day-to-day management of UNFPA’s global social media accounts Eligibility and Profile Applicants must be: Enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate programme (within one year of graduation) Strong candidates will have: Demonstrated experience creating TikTok or mobile video content Confidence appearing on camera Familiarity with TikTok trends and editing styles Strong storytelling and communication skills in English Alignment with UNFPA’s mission and values Learning and Benefits Interns will gain hands-on experience in: Digital communications within a large international organization Social media strategy, inclusive messaging, and content production Project management and collaborative creative processes Interns receive a stipend (if not otherwise funded) but must cover accommodation, travel, and insurance costs.
