Internship Overview The Finance Intern will work under the Head of Finance, collaborating closely with ICT/Procurement and HR teams. The internship provides exposure to core financial operations, data analysis, and process improvement within an international development context. Key Responsibilities Operational Support: Ensure compliance with UN/UNDP financial rules and regulations. Contribute to work plan development and financial reporting. Assist in preparing financial analyses. Research and Process Improvement: Conduct workflow analysis within the Finance Unit and propose process optimizations. Improve data integrity for pay cycle processes. Liaise with other UN agencies regarding payments. Accounting and Administrative Support: Process financial documents, including vouchers, invoices, and supporting documentation. Maintain internal expenditure control systems and ensure accurate posting in the Quantum system. Support programme teams with financial data and reporting. Maintain proper filing systems for financial records. Required Skills and Competencies Core Competencies: Achieve Results: Plan, monitor, and deliver quality work on time. Additional Competencies: Handle routine finance tasks, documentation, and data entry. Identify and adjust discrepancies in financial data. Produce accurate, well-documented financial records. Strong knowledge of financial/accounting rules and regulations. Proficient in Excel and digital filing systems. Ability to support business process re-engineering and system implementation. Education & Experience Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field; CPA/ACCA student preferred. Experience: Final-year students of Bachelor’s or Master’s programs, or within one year post-graduation. Demonstrated interest in finance, data analysis, and process improvement. Languages: Required: English Desired: Kiswahili Additional Information UNDP may select multiple candidates and retain applications for future similar roles.
