The United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) is accepting applications for the 64th Graduate Study Programme (GSP), the UN’s longest-running educational initiative. Since its launch over 63 years ago, the GSP has trained nearly 3,500 participants from more than 120 countries, providing an immersive introduction to the work of the UN and the broader “International Geneva” ecosystem. The 2026 GSP will take place at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, from 29 June to 10 July 2026, under the theme: “AI and Emerging Technologies: Realities, Risks and Opportunities”. This two-week intensive summer seminar combines lectures, presentations, group work, and visits to key international institutions. Participants will explore the impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on global governance, international cooperation, and policy-making. Programme Highlights The GSP provides a unique opportunity to: Gain first-hand insights into the operations of the UN and other Geneva-based organizations. Participate in interactive lectures, workshops, and group research projects. Attend site visits to international institutions, enhancing understanding of global governance in practice. Network with UN staff, diplomats, and fellow graduate students from around the world. The program emphasizes multicultural learning, critical thinking, and hands-on engagement with pressing global issues, making it an unparalleled platform for emerging leaders in international affairs. Eligibility & Requirements Applicants must meet the following criteria: Age: 22–32 at the time of application. Education: Completed Bachelor’s degree and currently enrolled in a graduate programme. Employment: Not employed full-time. Language: Fluency in English (written and spoken). All application documents must be submitted in English; translations are required for non-English documents. Selection is merit-based, considering academic performance, professional or extracurricular activities, motivation statements, and recommendation letters. The UN strives for equitable gender and regional representation. Application Process Applications are open from 5 December 2025 to 20 February 2026 (12:00 noon Geneva time). Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered, and decisions by the Selection Committee are final. Required documents include: CV – Maximum one page. Motivation video – Maximum 60 seconds. Recommendation letter – Maximum one page. Passport copy – EU/EFTA nationals may submit national ID. Bachelor’s diploma – Proof of completed undergraduate studies. Graduate enrolment proof – Confirmation of current graduate programme. All documents must be uploaded through the online application portal. The UN does not accept submissions via email and cannot provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications. Costs & Financial Considerations Participation in the GSP is free of charge, but participants are responsible for travel, accommodation, visa, and meals. While the UN does not provide financial aid, past participants have sometimes secured support from universities, national governments, foundations, or alumni groups. Selection Timeline Application period: 5 December 2025 – 20 February 2026 Notification of results: First week of April 2026 Candidates who remain eligible are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years if not selected.
