Application Deadline

June 30, 2026

Description

Applications are now open for the 2026 Just Energy for All (JE4A) Seed Grants, an initiative by United Women in Faith designed to support grassroots climate justice and just energy transition efforts. The funding opportunity aims to empower local communities, environmental justice organizations, and faith-based groups working to advance sustainable and equitable energy solutions. Through this program, grants ranging from $100 to $5,000 will be awarded to projects that align with climate justice goals and contribute to a more sustainable future. The initiative seeks to strengthen community-led efforts addressing environmental challenges while promoting education, advocacy, and collective action. Funding Available for Community-Led Climate Justice Initiatives The Just Energy for All Seed Grants are open to: United Women in Faith-led initiatives Local environmental justice organizations Coalitions and partnerships between United Women in Faith groups and environmental justice organizations The program is designed to provide early-stage funding for innovative projects that address pressing environmental concerns while supporting a fair and inclusive transition to clean energy systems. Priority Areas for Funding United Women in Faith has identified several key areas that will receive priority consideration during the review process. Eligible projects should address one or more of the following themes: Reducing carbon emissions through sustainable transportation solutions Promoting renewable energy adoption and energy efficiency Supporting fossil fuel non-proliferation and divestment efforts Improving air quality and climate-related public health outcomes Educating communities about climate justice and energy transition issues Advocating for equitable and community-centered energy policies Projects that demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and social equity are particularly encouraged to apply. What Makes a Competitive Application? According to the program guidelines, successful applications will clearly demonstrate how proposed activities contribute to climate justice and community empowerment. Strong proposals are expected to include: Clearly defined and measurable project goals Alignment with Just Energy for All values and objectives Meaningful participation of directly impacted communities in leadership and decision-making roles A combination of practical project outcomes alongside education and advocacy activities A realistic and detailed budget with clear justification for requested funds Integration of the Jemez Principles and the Principles of Environmental Justice The grant program places significant emphasis on community engagement and equity, ensuring that projects are designed and led by those most affected by environmental challenges. Coalition Projects Encouraged One of the distinguishing features of the 2026 funding cycle is the strong encouragement for collaborative proposals. United Women in Faith is actively seeking applications from partnerships between faith-based groups and local environmental justice organizations. These collaborations are expected to strengthen community impact, increase local engagement, and promote long-term sustainability. Additionally, projects led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities will receive priority consideration. Applications that demonstrate a pathway toward self-sustainability beyond the grant period are also viewed favorably during the evaluation process.
