Application Deadline

July 15, 2026

Description

University of Oxford’s Skoll Fellowship Offers Emerging Researchers Opportunities to Advance Social Impact Research and Engage with Global Change-Makers The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship has officially opened applications for its 2026–27 Early Career Research Fellowship (ECRF), inviting eligible researchers from across the University of Oxford to join a prestigious cohort focused on advancing actionable research for social impact. Based within the Saïd Business School, the Skoll Centre is internationally recognized for bringing together academics, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore innovative solutions to some of society’s most pressing challenges. Through research, teaching, and global engagement, the Centre seeks to generate insights on how to lead, organize, finance, measure, and scale social impact effectively. University of Oxford’s Skoll Centre Opens Applications for 2026–27 Early Career Research Fellowship The fellowship will run from September 2026 to August 2027 and is designed to strengthen relationships between the Skoll Centre and emerging researchers across Oxford while amplifying fellows’ research through the Centre’s extensive academic and practitioner networks. According to the Centre, the programme has two primary objectives: cultivating a vibrant community of early career researchers from diverse disciplines and supporting fellows in translating their research into practical insights that can inform policy, business, philanthropy, and social change initiatives. Selected fellows will participate in research seminars, workshops, convenings, and knowledge-sharing activities while contributing to the Centre’s action-oriented research agenda. Fellows will also have opportunities to showcase their work through outputs such as case studies, working papers, playbooks, reports, videos, podcast episodes, blogs, and student engagement activities. University of Oxford’s Skoll Centre Opens Applications for 2026–27 Early Career Research Fellowship Although the fellowship is an unpaid position, successful candidates will receive a £1,000 professional development and research dissemination stipend to support their academic growth and the public communication of their work. Each fellow will be paired with a faculty mentor from Saïd Business School and may also collaborate with a second mentor from another Oxford department. The mentorship component is intended to foster interdisciplinary learning, strengthen academic networks, and support fellows in developing impactful research projects. The fellowship aligns with the Skoll Centre’s four core areas of inquiry: Leading and Organising – examining leadership practices and organizational approaches that drive sustainable social change. Financing – exploring partnerships and financing models that support systemic impact. Measuring – investigating meaningful methods for evaluating social impact. Scaling – understanding how organizations can responsibly expand impact while maintaining effectiveness and community relevance. Applications are open to current academic researchers based at the University of Oxford who are within five years of completing a DPhil. Researchers with parental or caregiving-related career interruptions may qualify for an extended eligibility period of up to eight years after completing their doctorate. The Skoll Centre is particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience in applied or translational research, engagement with non-academic stakeholders, and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion within their work. Applicants should also demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with faculty, students, visiting fellows, and fellow researchers across disciplines. As part of the fellowship, participants will be expected to organize and deliver at least one research seminar, contribute to a major research output aligned with the Centre’s themes, participate in Centre events including the renowned Skoll World Forum, and submit an end-of-fellowship report reflecting on their activities and learning. To apply, candidates must submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter outlining their suitability and mentorship preferences, and a one-page proposal describing an action-oriented research project they would undertake during the fellowship. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, June 19, 2026, with shortlisted candidates expected to be interviewed between June 25 and June 26, 2026. Final appointments will be announced at the end of July. The fellowship presents a valuable opportunity for emerging scholars interested in translating research into real-world impact while engaging with one of the world’s leading social innovation and entrepreneurship communities.
