About the UN Volunteer Assignment: UNOPS Bangladesh UNOPS Bangladesh is seeking a Junior Research Assistant under the National UN Youth Volunteer modality to support research, data collection, and analytical work across ongoing and emerging initiatives. This role is ideal for early-career professionals and recent graduates who are passionate about research, development programming, and evidence-based policymaking. As a UN Volunteer, the Junior Research Assistant will contribute to strengthening research outputs, supporting project teams with data-driven insights, and enhancing knowledge products that inform programming and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Under the supervision of UNOPS personnel, the Junior Research Assistant will support a range of research and analytical functions, which may include: Assisting in qualitative and quantitative research, including literature reviews, policy analysis, and background research on development issues relevant to UNOPS programmes. Supporting data collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualization, including surveys, interviews, and secondary data analysis. Contributing to the preparation of research reports, briefs, presentations, and knowledge products for internal and external stakeholders. Assisting project teams in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL)-related tasks, including data tracking and documentation of lessons learned. Supporting coordination with partners, consultants, and stakeholders involved in research activities. Providing administrative and logistical support related to research initiatives, workshops, and consultations. Through these responsibilities, the Junior Research Assistant will gain exposure to UN project cycles, research standards, and cross-sectoral development work. Have an academic background or strong interest in social sciences, development studies, economics, public policy, statistics, or related fields. Demonstrate strong research, analytical, and writing skills. Are comfortable working with data, reports, and digital tools. Have good working knowledge of English; knowledge of Bangla is an asset. Are motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced development environment. Previous research, internship, or volunteer experience is an advantage but not always required.
