The Federal College of Education, Jama’are, located in Jama’are, Bauchi State, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the positions of Provost, Bursar, and College Librarian. The College operates under the supervision of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), which is responsible for funding, policy, and regulatory oversight of all Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria. These appointments provide an opportunity for candidates to contribute to the academic, administrative, and financial leadership of the institution. Nigerian government jobs Positions and Responsibilities Provost The Provost serves as the Chief Executive, Administrative, and Accounting Officer of the College, responsible for the overall management, operations, and academic leadership. The Provost will implement policies laid down by the Governing Council, exercise authority over staff and students, and provide strategic and professional leadership for the College. Professional networking platform Bursar The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the College and is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of financial affairs. Duties include planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of the College’s financial system and providing advice on financial matters as required by the Governing Council or Provost. College Librarian The College Librarian is responsible to the Provost for the administration of the College library and coordination of library services across academic departments. Duties include implementing library policies, liaising with departments regarding resources, preparing library budgets, and performing other responsibilities as directed by the Council or Provost. Qualifications Provost: Doctorate (Ph.D.) in a field relevant to at least one programme offered by the College Professional teaching qualification (NCE or PGDE); registration with TRCN is an advantage Minimum 15 years post-qualification teaching/research experience in higher education, including senior administrative roles Must be a Chief Lecturer with at least 5 years cognate experience Bursar: Good honours degree or HND in Accountancy, Finance, or related field with 21 years cognate experience and full professional accounting registration, or relevant Master’s degree with 18 years experience Must have served as Deputy Bursar on CONTEDISS 15 Proficiency in ICT and evidence of continuous professional development College Librarian: Good honours degree with Master in Library Science and 18 years experience, or Ph.D. in Library and Information Science with 12 years experience Registration with a recognised professional library body Must be Chief Librarian on CONCASS 9 or Deputy Librarian on CONTEDISS 15 for at least 5 years Proficiency in ICT and evidence of scholarly publications All candidates must not be above 59 years of age at the time of taking up the appointment and must demonstrate vision, leadership, and integrity. Each candidate is required to submit a two-page vision statement outlining plans for the College over the next five years.
