Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards:Standards that recognize projects delivering integrated climate, community, and biodiversity benefits. Plastic Waste Reduction Program:A program enabling credible impact assessment for waste recovery and recycling projects globally. The Opportunity Verra is expanding its pool of expert reviewers to meet increasing demand for project reviews under the VCS, CCB Standards, and SD VISta programs. Review activities are supported through a prioritization fee, allowing Verra to scale review capacity while maintaining rigorous quality and integrity. This role is fully remote and open worldwide, with a preference for availability that significantly overlaps with United States business hours. The Role Project Reviewers support Verra’s certification process by assessing project registration and verification submissions. Contractors are responsible for reviewing documentation and confirming compliance with relevant program rules. Key responsibilities include: Reviewing project documentation submitted through the Verra Registry, including: Project descriptions Validation and verification reports Monitoring reports Assessing whether validation and verification bodies have adequately demonstrated compliance with applicable standards Documenting findings and conclusions using Verra’s Project Review Report template Participating in up to three iterative review rounds to support resolution of findings Applying technical expertise and professional judgment to complex methodological and accounting issues Minimum time commitment: 16 hours per week Engagement Process Project review opportunities are assigned at Verra’s discretion Contractors are notified by email and must confirm: Availability Absence of conflicts of interest (within one business day) Verra provides access to the Project Hub, review checklists, and orientation materials Qualifications and Experience Verra is seeking candidates with: Experience in: Carbon project development Auditing and/or validation and verification Environmental or sustainability standard setting Deep technical expertise in at least one VCS methodology Experience evaluating: Sustainable development impacts Biodiversity and community outcomes Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Work Environment Fully remote, global engagement Requires: Extended computer-based work Reliable internet connectivity A distraction-free workspace Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities Compensation This is a contractor role. Compensation is paid upon satisfactory completion of deliverables and invoice submission. Rates vary by: Sectoral scope Review type (registration, verification, or combined) Review round (initial or subsequent) Program (VCS, CCBS, SD VISta, or joint reviews) Higher rates apply to complex scopes such as AFOLU and joint CCBS–VCS reviews. Panel reviews focused solely on carbon accounting and methodology requirements are compensated at 50 percent of standard rates.
