VisionFund Kenya is seeking a qualified and motivated Agri-Climate Business Development Officer to support the rollout and growth of innovative agricultural and climate-responsive financial products. The role is full-time and based in Nairobi (VisionFund Head Office) and Nyahururu Branch, Kenya. Applications close on 2 January 2026. Role Overview The Agri-Climate Business Development Officer plays a critical role in driving the implementation and scaling of agricultural loan products designed for smallholder farmers. The position focuses on aligning financial services with climate-smart agriculture practices to strengthen farmer resilience and portfolio sustainability. Reporting to the Partnership and Project Senior Officer, the role serves as a subject-matter expert in agri-climate finance, coordinating internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to ensure effective product delivery. The Officer also contributes to knowledge leadership within VisionFund Kenya’s agricultural finance portfolio. Key Responsibilities Product Rollout and Implementation (20%) Drive adoption of newly developed agricultural loan products for both groups and individual clients Ensure alignment of products with VisionFund Kenya’s climate strategy and sustainability objectives Collaborate with credit and business development teams to optimise product delivery processes Contribute to the development of agriculture master plans, defining short- and long-term goals for the agricultural lending unit Loan Disbursement and Portfolio Performance (25%) Achieve FY2026 loan disbursement targets of: KES 13,000,000 200 clients (70% groups, 30% individual borrowers) between January and September 2026 Maintain high portfolio quality standards, with: Portfolio at Risk (PAR 1 and PAR 30) maintained at zero Client Training and Engagement (20%) Conduct monthly client training sessions (minimum of nine per year) covering: Agricultural finance Climate-smart agriculture practices Loan management and repayment Facilitate mandatory monthly group meetings Ensure at least 90% attendance across all client training activities Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (20%) Submit accurate monthly reports by the 5th of each month Track loan utilisation for 100% of supported clients Develop and document a minimum of four client success stories annually Attend and actively participate in all required VisionFund and VisionFund International meetings Climate-Smart Agriculture Integration (15%) Promote climate-smart agricultural practices that reduce climate risk and improve farmer resilience Provide technical guidance on sustainable and adaptive farming techniques Support the integration of climate considerations into agricultural lending products Qualifications and Experience Education and Professional Background Diploma or degree in: Agricultural Extension Agribusiness Business-related or agriculture-related discipline from a recognised institution Experience Requirements Minimum of three years’ experience in: Agri-climate product design Smallholder farmer engagement Microfinance or financial institutions Core Competencies Strong understanding of agricultural and climate-responsive financial products Demonstrated skills in: Sales and product promotion Negotiation and partnership development Client engagement and training Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Safeguarding and Faith Commitment The care and protection of children and vulnerable adults is a core priority for World Vision and VisionFund Kenya.
