VVOB – education for development is inviting qualified creative professionals to apply for a Multimedia Designer position in Nairobi, Kenya. The opportunity is aimed at an experienced graphic or multimedia designer who can create high-quality visual communication materials for an international non-profit organisation working to strengthen education systems across Africa, Asia and South America. The position is based at VVOB’s Global Office in Nairobi and forms part of the organisation’s global communication team. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in Nairobi and Brussels, as well as teams across VVOB’s international programme and operations departments. The organisation is offering a full-time contract of indefinite duration, with a gross monthly salary ranging from KES 171,600 to KES 284,542, depending on relevant seniority and experience. The remuneration package also includes additional benefits. About VVOB VVOB – education for development is an international non-profit organisation with more than 40 years of experience working to improve the quality of education systems. The organisation works closely with ministries of education and their institutions across countries in Africa, Asia and South America. Its work is guided by values including commitment, integrity, respect, quality and innovation. The Multimedia Designer will contribute to VVOB’s communication efforts by transforming complex information and communication objectives into clear, engaging and visually appealing products. About the Multimedia Designer Position The Multimedia Designer will become part of VVOB’s Global Office communication team and report directly to the Global Director of Engagement & Communication. The role will involve working alongside the Storyteller and Digital Media Advisor while collaborating with programme and operations colleagues across VVOB’s global portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing visual and multimedia materials for a wide range of audiences and communication channels. Key responsibilities include developing publications, technical briefs, reports, presentations, event materials, infographics and social media assets. The designer will also help maintain a consistent and high-quality visual identity across VVOB’s internal and external communications. Key Responsibilities The Multimedia Designer will have a broad range of creative and digital responsibilities. These include designing print and digital communication materials that support VVOB’s strategic communication objectives. The successful candidate will also create multimedia products such as video edits, animations and audiovisual assets when appropriate. Another important responsibility will be providing creative support to the Storyteller and Digital Media Advisor. This will involve translating communication concepts into engaging visual products for different audiences and platforms. The role also includes managing VVOB’s visual assets, including its photo database, templates and design resources. The successful candidate will ensure these resources are properly organised, searchable and accessible. The designer will also support the organisation’s website by preparing, formatting and uploading visual and multimedia content while ensuring that materials remain accurate, accessible, on-brand and appropriate for online use. Additional responsibilities include supporting efficient design workflows, providing technical input when external design services are procured, conducting quality assurance and keeping up with emerging design technologies and best practices. Who Can Apply? VVOB is looking for a multimedia or graphic designer with strong attention to detail and a passion for creating effective visual communication. Applicants should have a university degree in graphic design, animation, multimedia production, digital design, motion graphics, creative technologies, visual communication or a related discipline that included practical design training. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered. Candidates are expected to have at least three years of professional experience in print and digital design and layout. Applicants should also have a portfolio demonstrating their work for different clients. Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Adobe InDesign, is required. Experience with other creative software such as Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects or Final Cut Pro is desirable. Applicants should also have proven experience using Canva to create and maintain branded materials. Additional Skills and Requirements The successful candidate should have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience applying and safeguarding brand guidelines across different communication products is important, as is the ability to manage multiple design requests while meeting agreed deadlines. VVOB is also seeking someone with strong organisational abilities and excellent attention to detail, particularly in managing visual assets and digital media libraries. Experience producing audiovisual content, including editing short-form videos, is desirable. Candidates must have fluency in written and spoken English and must be legally authorised to work in Kenya. Salary and Benefits VVOB is offering a competitive remuneration package for the position.
