The movement supports initiatives and policies related to: Clean energy development Biodiversity conservation Sustainable agriculture Alternative proteins Genetic modification technologies (GMOs) Climate intervention research Environmental protection and ecosystem restoration Over the years, WePlanet has gained international recognition through coverage in major media outlets and has built a large global supporter base across Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, and Australia. About the Grants Officer Role The newly created Grants Officer position is designed to strengthen WePlanet’s fundraising infrastructure as the organisation enters a new phase of growth. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, including the Director of Impact & Partnerships and the Head of Philanthropy & Foundations. The role focuses on managing grant portfolios, developing funding proposals, maintaining relationships with funders, and building systems that support effective grant management. This position is offered as a: Full-time contract Two-year fixed-term appointment Fully remote role Global opportunity open to applicants worldwide Candidates must be able to work hours that overlap with the European working day. Key Responsibilities The Grants Officer will play a central role in securing and managing funding opportunities for the organisation. Key responsibilities include: Grant Portfolio Management Managing grants from trusts, foundations, and institutional donors Monitoring reporting deadlines and compliance requirements Coordinating grant renewals and stewardship activities Maintaining strong relationships with existing funders Proposal Development Writing compelling grant proposals and funding applications Preparing progress reports and impact updates Translating complex scientific and environmental topics into accessible narratives Supporting the development of cases for support and fundraising materials Major Funding Opportunities The successful candidate will collaborate with senior fundraising staff to: Research potential funders Develop large-scale funding proposals Prepare briefing materials for donor meetings Coordinate submission timelines and supporting documentation Systems and Reporting Additional responsibilities include: Maintaining accurate records within grant management systems and CRM platforms Supporting reporting cycles and compliance requirements Developing internal processes to improve fundraising efficiency Working within Microsoft-based systems, including Teams and potentially Power BI Eligibility Requirements WePlanet is seeking candidates with strong grant-writing and fundraising experience, particularly in international philanthropic environments. Essential Requirements Applicants should possess: At least two years of experience in grant writing, trusts and foundations fundraising, bid writing, policy writing, or research writing A minimum of two years of experience working on proposals for major US, UK, or European foundations Excellent written English skills Strong project management and organisational abilities Experience handling budgets and financial information for proposals and reports Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Teams, and related digital systems Ability to work independently within a remote international team Alignment with WePlanet’s science-based environmental mission Desirable Qualifications Additional advantages include: Experience in environmental, climate, or international development organisations Knowledge of CRM or grant management platforms Experience working in startup-style environments Additional European language skills Salary and Benefits The organisation offers a competitive compensation package, with salary levels adjusted according to the successful candidate’s country of residence.
