globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

May 9, 2026

Description

The World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), a leading international organization in public health advocacy and policy, is offering two internship positions for students and recent graduates interested in global health and development. These internships provide a unique platform to gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and expand networks within the international public health community. Internship Overview WFPHA’s internships are designed to give substantial responsibility to participants, allowing them to engage in activities such as researching and writing articles, liaising with health and development NGOs worldwide, assisting in planning international conferences, and contributing to fundraising efforts. Each internship is tailored to the individual’s interests while meeting WFPHA’s organizational needs. Interns may also work on independent research assignments, enhancing their expertise in areas relevant to international health and development. Learning and Professional Development Interns at WFPHA can expect to improve their writing, research, and analytical skills while gaining a comprehensive understanding of global health issues. The organization’s extensive network provides opportunities to connect with key actors in public health, as WFPHA maintains official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) and collaborates with numerous NGOs worldwide. The internship also fosters professional growth through experience in multicultural and international team settings, helping interns cultivate teamwork and project management skills. Internship Details The WFPHA internships are remote, offering flexibility for candidates worldwide. There are two start dates: June 1, 2026, and September 1, 2026. Internships last for a minimum of three months and can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the candidate’s availability and schedule. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants must be either Master’s students or graduates in International Relations, public health, or related fields. Essential skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software, excellent written and spoken English, strong multitasking abilities, and the capacity to work under strict deadlines. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive, “can-do” attitude, and be comfortable collaborating in a diverse, international environment. Compensation and Limitations The internships are unpaid, and WFPHA does not provide relocation assistance or sponsor international student visas. However, the experience offers invaluable professional exposure, networking opportunities, and practical experience in international public health and development. Application Process Interested candidates should submit their CV and a motivation letter to Maria Mata at maria.mata@wfpha.org. Applicants must indicate whether they are available to begin in June or September. The application deadline is April 23, 2026. Why Intern with WFPHA? Interning at WFPHA provides an exceptional opportunity for students and recent graduates to immerse themselves in global health initiatives. Beyond skill development, interns gain insight into the functioning of an international NGO, collaborate with professionals across borders, and contribute to meaningful public health projects. WFPHA’s official ties with the WHO and global NGOs enhance the learning experience, making it an ideal stepping stone for careers in international health, policy, and development. Conclusion WFPHA’s internship program is tailored for ambitious students and graduates eager to make a tangible impact in the global public health arena. With responsibilities ranging from research and writing to international networking and event planning, interns leave with hands-on experience, enhanced professional skills, and connections that can shape their future careers.
