Successful award recipients will be announced during the annual Whitley Awards Ceremony in London in spring 2027. £50,000 Funding Available for Conservation Projects Each Whitley Award provides £50,000 in project funding for one year to support conservation initiatives that have demonstrated impact and are ready to expand. The Whitley Awards are targeted at dynamic, mid-career conservationists who are leading important environmental projects within their own countries. Applicants must be nationals of the country where they are implementing their conservation work and should be seeking support to scale existing initiatives. Eligible applicants should demonstrate that their projects: Are embedded within local communities. Address critical conservation challenges. Apply science-based methods. Deliver measurable benefits for wildlife, ecosystems and communities. Have potential for expansion and long-term sustainability. Applicants do not need to be invited or nominated to apply. Conservation leaders who meet the eligibility requirements can submit their own applications through the Whitley Fund for Nature application portal. Application Process for Whitley Awards 2027 Interested applicants must complete an online application process through the Whitley Fund for Nature portal. The application process involves several key steps: Register on the Application Portal Applicants must first create a WFN account through the online application system. After registration, applicants receive login details and can access the application form before the deadline. Complete the Online Application Form Applicants must complete the online application and provide detailed information about their conservation project, impact, objectives and future plans. Applicants are required to download and complete additional templates, including: A Microsoft Word template for the project logical framework and timeline. A Microsoft Excel template for the project budget. Completed documents must then be uploaded through the application portal. WFN advises applicants to use the latest templates provided for the 2027 application cycle, as submissions using outdated forms from previous years will not be considered. Provide Three Referees Applicants must nominate three referees to support their application. Candidates are responsible for ensuring that referees submit their recommendations before the application deadline.
