The field is developing rapidly and can complement other surveillance systems across a broad range of pathogens and public health priorities. The WES TAG will advise WHO on the public health value and implementation of wastewater and environmental surveillance. Its work will also cover research priorities, methodologies, interpretation of findings, legal and ethical considerations, and integration of wastewater and environmental surveillance into wider public health surveillance systems. The group will also consider the application of a One Health approach, recognising connections between human, animal and environmental health. Eligibility and Expert Profile The opportunity is intended for professionals with demonstrated expertise relevant to wastewater and environmental surveillance and public health. Applicants should be able to contribute independent scientific, technical or operational expertise to the work of the Technical Advisory Group. Experience in multidisciplinary public health, environmental surveillance or related fields may be relevant, depending on the applicant’s area of expertise. Selected members will participate in an individual expert capacity. They will not represent their employers, governments or other organisations. Members must also be free from any real, potential or apparent conflicts of interest. What Will Selected Experts Do? Members of the WES TAG will provide independent advice to WHO on issues relating to wastewater and environmental surveillance.
