Women’s World Banking has announced an exciting Request for Proposals (RFP) for experienced research firms and independent consultants across Africa. This opportunity is designed to expand its research network and strengthen its work in women’s financial inclusion and economic empowerment across key markets. With a deadline of 30 April 2026, this call invites skilled professionals and organizations to join a long-term research bench, contributing to impactful projects in multiple countries. Overview of the Opportunity This RFP seeks to identify and onboard qualified research partners who will support ongoing and future projects across: Nigeria Kenya Uganda Tanzania Zambia Selected consultants and firms will be placed on a one-year retainer, with project assignments ranging from short-term (one week) to long-term (up to one year) engagements. This flexible structure allows participants to contribute to a diverse portfolio of research initiatives while building a sustained partnership with Women’s World Banking. About Women’s World Banking For over four decades, Women’s World Banking has been at the forefront of advancing financial inclusion for women, particularly those in low-income and underserved communities. The organization works with financial institutions and stakeholders to: Develop inclusive financial products Generate data-driven insights Advocate for gender-equitable financial systems Its research function plays a critical role in both internal strategy development and external policy influence, making this RFP a key component of its global mission. Scope of Work and Responsibilities Selected research partners will undertake a wide range of activities depending on project needs. Key Responsibilities Include: Conducting background research and literature reviews Designing research methodologies and instruments Performing qualitative and quantitative data analysis Facilitating interviews, focus groups, and surveys Managing fieldwork and data collection processes Conducting user testing and design research Producing high-quality research reports and insights This role requires the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that inform financial inclusion strategies and policy decisions. Required Qualifications Applicants must demonstrate strong research expertise and a proven track record. Minimum Requirements: Graduate-level education (Master’s or PhD) Up to 10 years of relevant research experience Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies Proficiency in tools such as: Stata or R (quantitative analysis) NVivo or Dedoose (qualitative analysis) Strong writing, communication, and project management skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines A stable internet connection and fluency in English are also essential. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following will strengthen an application: Experience in women’s financial inclusion or gender-focused research Familiarity with low-income or underserved populations Experience working with government institutions or NGOs Expertise in diverse research methods such as: Impact evaluations A/B testing Case studies Surveys and experimental research Ability to manage field teams and logistics Experience working in multicultural and cross-time-zone teams Candidates with strong big data analysis skills and the ability to generate meaningful insights from complex datasets are especially encouraged to apply.
