globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

October 9, 2026

Description

WoMin, a leading African ecofeminist alliance, is inviting applications for the position of Grants and Contracts Officer, a fully remote role open to candidates based anywhere in Africa. This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced grants and programme administration professionals who are passionate about social justice, women’s rights, ecological justice, and strengthening movements across the continent. Applications close on 20 September 2026, and the successful candidate will join a dynamic pan-African organisation dedicated to supporting women, peasant communities, and mining-impacted communities in advancing equitable and sustainable alternatives to extractive development. About WoMin Founded in 2013, WoMin is an African ecofeminist alliance working alongside grassroots women’s organisations, peasant movements, and communities affected by mining and extractive industries. Through research, movement-building, advocacy, and solidarity, the organisation amplifies the voices of working-class and rural women while promoting an ecologically just and women-centred vision for Africa’s future. Operating across Southern, East, West, and Central Africa, WoMin collaborates with numerous partners to strengthen community-led struggles against destructive extractive development and to advance feminist alternatives grounded in environmental and social justice. About the Remote Position Reporting to the Operations & Grants Manager, with close collaboration with the Programme Manager and Movement Support Unit Lead, the Grants and Contracts Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring donor accountability, grant compliance, partnership management, and organisational information systems. The role combines technical grants administration with strategic coordination, making it ideal for professionals who excel in managing multiple donor-funded projects while maintaining strong relationships with partners across diverse African contexts. As a fully remote position, the successful candidate will work from a home base anywhere on the African continent while collaborating with geographically dispersed programme teams. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will oversee comprehensive grants and donor administration by maintaining donor registers, managing reporting schedules, coordinating proposal submissions, monitoring grant income, and ensuring timely compliance with donor requirements. Core responsibilities include: Managing donor reporting calendars and deadlines Coordinating multi-author donor reports Reviewing and consolidating programme reports Maintaining grant and contract databases Supporting proposal development and due diligence processes Researching prospective funding opportunities Tracking donor communications and contractual deliverables The officer will also strengthen WoMin’s partnership framework by developing and maintaining Memoranda of Understanding, partner contracts, reporting systems, and compliance mechanisms that promote transparent and mutually accountable relationships across the organisation’s regional network. Information Management and Organisational Support Beyond grants management, the role contributes to improving WoMin’s institutional knowledge systems. The successful candidate will maintain databases of partners, allies, consultants, and service providers while supporting the development of organisational information management processes that enhance learning and operational efficiency. The position also includes contributing to strategic planning, staff capacity building, internal reporting, and other organisational priorities as required by WoMin’s long-term operational strategy. Who Should Apply? WoMin is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented professional with significant experience in grants and programme administration within the non-profit sector. Applicants should possess: A minimum of five years’ experience in project or programme administration, coordination, or grants management Experience working within national or regional NGOs or non-profit organisations A diploma or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, information management, or a related discipline Excellent coordination and organisational abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills The ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet-based platforms, and remote collaboration tools Experience working with donor compliance systems, partnership contracting, and proposal development will be highly advantageous. Language and Regional Preference Fluency in English is essential for this position. WoMin also highly values candidates who can communicate in an additional widely spoken African language, including Swahili, French, Portuguese, Arabic, or Fulani, reflecting the organisation’s pan-African reach. While applications are welcome from across Africa, WoMin has expressed a preference for non-South African Black women based in Southern, East, West, or Central Africa, consistent with its organisational commitment to feminist movement leadership across the continent. Why Join WoMin? This position offers much more than a traditional grants management role. It provides the opportunity to contribute directly to transformative social movements advancing women’s rights, ecological justice, community resilience, and equitable development throughout Africa. Professionals joining WoMin become part of a values-driven organisation that prioritises collaboration, solidarity, political education, and long-term movement-building while working alongside inspiring activists, researchers, and grassroots organisations across the continent. How to Apply Interested candidates should submit their application by Sunday, 20 September 2026 via email. Applications should include all documents specified in the full vacancy announcement and be sent to the designated recruitment email with the appropriate subject line, following the application instructions provided by Action Appointments. Candidates seeking a meaningful remote career in grants management while supporting impactful African social justice initiatives are encouraged to apply before the closing date.
