Médecins Sans Frontières is seeking a Learning and Development Specialist to join the Board Strengthening Program. The position is a fixed-term 36-month contract at 80 percent, starting on 1 February 2026. Applications close on 4 December 2025. The successful candidate will be contracted through the MSF office in their country of residence, and compensation will follow the standard package offered within that entity. About the Board Strengthening Program The Board Strengthening Program (BSP) sits within the International Association Team and is funded by the International Board. It provides a structured suite of governance support services designed to strengthen MSF board performance globally. Its portfolio includes mentoring and coaching in partnership with the MSF-Norway Mentoring and Coaching Hub; governance learning offers delivered both virtually and in person; e-learning modules developed with Tembo; tailored board training packages; board audit support; topical webinar series; a best-practice repository; capacity building for board support staff; and induction support for International General Assembly representatives. Position Background Learning and development is a central pillar of the BSP. The program delivers a mix of online and face-to-face governance and chairing skills trainings and continues to expand its digital learning offer through new e-learning modules. It also delivers customised trainings for individual boards and organises webinars and informal cafes on emerging governance topics. A new initiative is the creation of written off-the-shelf learning materials to complement digital resources. The Learning and Development Specialist will work closely with the Learning and Development Coordinator on these initiatives. The role is also connected to the development of an integrated learning needs assessment platform and a new learning hub, in partnership with the People Management Unit, Tembo, and the Digital Communications Officer. The specialist joins a team that includes the Learning and Development Coordinator, Program Manager, Digital Communications Officer, and Mentoring and Coaching Coordinator, supported by a pool of external governance trainers and team coaches. Position in the Organisation The Learning and Development Specialist reports to the BSP Program Manager and works in close collaboration with the Learning and Development Coordinator, the Digital Communications Officer, and the BSP training team. Purpose of the Role The objective of the position is to provide technical expertise in learning and development for the BSP’s training activities. It is a specialist support role rather than a coordination role. The Specialist will also contribute to direct board support, working alongside the Program Manager. Key Responsibilities The Specialist works with the Learning and Development Coordinator to design, develop, and revise training materials aligned with BSP’s pedagogical standards. Responsibilities include• Developing digital and face-to-face course materials and learning activities based on defined learning objectives• Leading the development of written off-the-shelf learning materials• Updating course content, lesson plans, activity notes, and facilitation guidance in collaboration with BSP trainers, ensuring consistency and cross-referencing across modules• Creating scripts and storyboards for e-learning modules and multimedia content in partnership with the Learning and Development Coordinator• Evaluating existing content and learning activities and making improvements based on learner feedback and training team insightsAdditional responsibilities include• Collaborating with the Digital Communications Officer to oversee content development for the new BSP Learning and Development Hub with Tembo• Implementing the Learning Needs Assessment system with the People Management Unit• Sharing responsibility with the Program Manager for direct board support, including facilitating retreats and delivering tailored online and face-to-face trainings• Participating in BSP strategic planning Candidate Requirements The position requires• A master’s degree or postgraduate professional certificate in learning and development• At least five years of professional experience in learning, development, and training• Demonstrated expertise in learning and development, with experience in both digital and face-to-face training• Strong capacity for autonomous work• Knowledge of not-for-profit governance systems is preferred• Fluency in English is essential, with French highly preferred and Spanish preferredOnly shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
