The World Bank Group Development Impact Department (DECDI)—also known as DIME—is conducting its Spring 2026 recruitment drive for Research Assistants (RAs), Field Coordinators (FCs), and Data Science & Architecture Analysts. This hiring round seeks to fill 9 consultant roles across 8 global projects, offering candidates the opportunity to work on cutting-edge impact evaluations that inform development policy and improve lives worldwide. About Development Impact (DIME) DIME generates high-quality, policy-relevant research to address global development challenges such as poverty reduction and shared prosperity. Its work spans multiple sectors, including: Agriculture Governance Climate change Financial and private sector development Social protection and jobs Infrastructure and transport Fragility, conflict, and violence DIME collaborates closely with governments, researchers, and operational teams to design and implement impact evaluations that produce actionable insights. Available Roles 1. Research Assistants (RA) Research Assistants support the full lifecycle of impact evaluations, focusing on data and analysis. Responsibilities include: Cleaning and managing large datasets Writing reproducible code (Stata, R, Python) Conducting statistical and econometric analysis Supporting survey design and data collection Contributing to research papers, policy briefs, and reports Managing databases and integrating multiple data sources These roles may be remote or based in Washington, DC, depending on project needs. 2. Field Coordinators (FC) Field Coordinators oversee on-the-ground implementation of impact evaluations. Key responsibilities include: Coordinating with governments, stakeholders, and research teams Managing survey implementation and field staff Monitoring data quality and ensuring protocol compliance Supervising data collection and field operations Supporting training and capacity building Reporting on project progress FC roles are typically based in the country of project implementation. 3. Data Science & Architecture Analysts These roles focus on advanced data systems and analytics. Responsibilities include: Analysing large datasets and administrative data Designing and improving data pipelines Identifying integration and automation opportunities Developing dashboards and data tools Supporting data-driven decision-making These roles are often remote and require strong technical expertise in data systems. Key Responsibilities Across Roles All consultants contribute to the broader research ecosystem by: Supporting impact evaluation design and execution Ensuring data quality, security, and ethical compliance Engaging with stakeholders and partners Contributing to knowledge dissemination and capacity building Required Qualifications For Research Assistants and Field Coordinators Master’s degree in economics, public policy, statistics, computer science, or related field Strong quantitative and econometric skills Proficiency in Stata or R (required for RAs; preferred for FCs) Experience with survey tools (ODK preferred) Knowledge of GitHub and collaborative coding practices Experience with household survey data (especially for RAs) Fieldwork or data collection experience (required for FCs) Strong communication skills in English Additional advantages include: Knowledge of Python, machine learning, or geospatial analysis Experience in developing countries Ability to deliver training and capacity-building activities Fluency in additional languages (e.g., French, Hindi, Portuguese, Swahili) For Data Science & Architecture Analysts Master’s degree in data science, statistics, or computer science Advanced programming skills in Python (R preferred) Experience with data pipelines and system architecture Knowledge of interoperability and data-sharing frameworks Experience working with large datasets and public sector systems Ability to translate technical insights for non-technical audiences Employment Terms Roles are offered as Short-Term Consultant (STC) contracts Compensation is based on World Bank consultant scales Duration varies by project Positions may be remote or field-based Intellectual property remains with the World Bank Application Process Candidates must apply online and submit: Resume (CV) Statement(s) of Interest (maximum 500 words each) Optional code samples (Stata, R, Python, or ODK) or GitHub links Shortlisted applicants may be required to: Complete a technical assessment Participate in interviews Application Deadline: 29 April 2026 (1:00 PM EDT) Open Project Locations and Focus Areas Projects span multiple regions and sectors, including: Rwanda (energy and agriculture impact evaluations) India (women-led MSME growth programme) Ethiopia (education and AI initiatives) Europe (data systems for EU cohesion policy) Remote global research initiatives Some roles require local language proficiency depending on the project location.
