Operating in nearly 100 countries with more than 33,000 staff members, the organization is dedicated to helping children overcome poverty and experience fullness of life, regardless of background or circumstance. Through policy engagement and humanitarian advocacy, World Vision works at global, regional, and national levels to influence systems and structures affecting children’s well-being. Internship Overview The United Nations Policy Advocacy and External Engagement Intern will be based at World Vision’s New York Office. The role provides a three-month immersive experience within the international development and humanitarian policy sector. The intern will support World Vision’s United Nations Policy and Advocacy Team, which engages directly with key UN bodies, including the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council. The team advances child-focused policies related to: Child well-being Nutrition and hunger Financing for development Human rights and humanitarian response Key Responsibilities Policy Monitoring and Research Track schedules and proceedings of UN bodies, including the Security Council and General Assembly Monitor developments within assigned advocacy portfolios Provide timely updates and synthesized briefings Documentation and Analysis Draft internal briefings and position papers Support preparation of advocacy materials for external engagement Assist in producing documentation for working groups and partner organizations UNGA 2026 Support Contribute to planning and coordination activities for the 2026 UN General Assembly session Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings and side events Assist with preparation for high-level engagements in September External Engagement Support participation in meetings with NGOs and UN agencies Maintain professional communication with peer organizations Strengthen collaborative advocacy initiatives Learning and Professional Development Interns benefit from: Exposure to multilateral diplomacy and international policy processes Weekly professional development sessions Opportunities to collaborate with a nationwide intern cohort Hands-on experience in global humanitarian advocacy Strengthened leadership and analytical competencies Candidate Profile Academic Background Preferred fields of study include: Social Sciences International Affairs Journalism Communications Related disciplines Applicants must be current undergraduate or graduate students, or recent graduates within the past two years.
