The Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF) is seeking a Manager of Finance and Operations to play a central role in strengthening the organisation’s financial integrity, operational efficiency, and accountability. This role is critical to ensuring that YCJF’s internal systems support its mission to resource and sustain youth-led climate justice movements worldwide. About the Youth Climate Justice Fund The Youth Climate Justice Fund supports youth-led socio-environmental and climate justice movements through participatory grantmaking and capacity strengthening. Publicly launched in September 2023, YCJF is led by a global team of young people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. Since its inception, YCJF has: Committed over USD 4.5 million in funding Supported 115 grantee partners Worked across 50+ countries globally YCJF exists to build trust, shift power, and bridge gaps between funders and young climate leaders, particularly those from communities most affected by the climate crisis. Working closely with the Director of Operations, the role ensures effective coordination with YCJF’s fiscal sponsor while strengthening internal controls, compliance, and reporting. This position is well-suited to a highly organised and proactive professional with strong financial expertise and experience supporting distributed, mission-driven teams. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Management (Primary Focus) Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and budget tracking Support annual and multi-year budgeting aligned with funder commitments and organisational priorities Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and expenditure forecasts for leadership and funders Coordinate financial inputs for fundraising proposals, renewals, and donor reporting Review, code, and track expenses in compliance with grant requirements Maintain financial trackers across programmes and grants Strengthen internal controls and financial documentation procedures Support financial planning for events, retreats, and convenings 2. Grants Administration Coordinate grant disbursements in line with fiscal sponsor protocols Maintain accurate documentation for grantee payments and agreements Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks related to payments Support integration of financial data into grantmaking systems such as Fluxx and Monday.com 3. Operations and Systems Support Support the development and improvement of internal operational systems Oversee vendor contracts, consultant payments, and record keeping Maintain accessible financial and operational documentation across shared platforms Assist with operational planning for organisational retreats and convenings Support procurement, travel logistics, and reimbursements 4. Cross-Team Collaboration Work closely with Operations, Grants, MEL, Community, and Development teams Provide guidance on expense coding, compliance, and budget tracking Ensure financial systems align with programmatic priorities Candidate Profile Essential Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience in finance and operations within nonprofit or philanthropic organisations Strong experience managing budgets and reporting across multiple grants or funders Proficiency in Google Workspace and Excel/Sheets Experience maintaining financial compliance in distributed teams Strong alignment with climate justice, youth leadership, and equity values Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills Desirable Experience Experience working with fiscal sponsors or private-sector finance Familiarity with youth-led or participatory governance models Experience using tools such as Monday.com, Fluxx, Slack, and Google Suite Lived experience or close connection to frontline or climate-impacted communities Role Details Location: Fully remote; flexibility across time zones (preference for Global Majority countries) Reports to: Director of Operations Contract type: Full-time, permanent Salary: USD 65,000 per year (including benefits), with potential cost-of-living adjustments up to 20% Application Process Interested candidates are invited to submit: A CV A cover letter Applications must be submitted via the official application link by January 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
